Since January of this year, newspapers have been investigating high profile political figures in the UK for their protection of or participation in child abuse situations. Last month the Guardian reported on a 6th arrest related to an orphanage in Barnes, alleged to be the target of sordid abuse of vulnerable children in the same vein as the hospitals Jimmy Saville preyed upon.
Alerted by BrokenBarnet on Twitter, I was made aware that many MPs were stopping short of giving their full support to an enquiry into these matters. Given the overwhelming evidence that senior public figures like Saville, Rolf Harris, Stuart Hall and others had from powerful politicians, it seems obvious that an enquiry is a) necessary and b) deserving of our MPs' full support.
Here is the response I had after writing to ask what Theresa Villiers MP was planning to do about it.
